VADM Peterman spent thirty-six years in the United States Coast Guard performing a broad range of maritime safety and security missions. His last active assignment was Commander, Coast Guard Atlantic Command where he guided all Coast Guard missions in a vast area from the Rocky Mountains of the United States to the Arabian Gulf. In addition to his afloat commands, he served two assignments in the White House, one on the National Security Council staff and one as the Special Assistant to the President for Borders and Transportation Security. He also served two tours with the Department of Defense, working in the Caribbean, Europe and Africa.

VADM Peterman’s law enforcement, vessel safety, and waterways management experience coupled with international liaison and national policy expertise make him ideal to lead the Command At Sea International team.
